Somewhere out there, one of you extreme guitar nerds has an original 1950s-1960s set of Danelectro six-string bass strings. And I need them.
Before it was sold in 2011, Grady Martin’s Danelectro six-string bass was restrung with baritone strings. I want to get it back to original and I want to put real, true vintage Danelectro six-string bass strings back on it.
Yes, I know that there are modern six-string bass string sets manufactured today. Some even have the small ball end that you need to put them on original Danelectro instruments from that era.
But I know, in my heart of hearts, that somewhere, one of you extreme guitar nerds has an original set of strings in one of your parts drawers, and I would very much like you to contact me and let us figure out a deal so that I can put those strings on Grady Martin’s Danelectro six-string bass. Modern string gauges are not the same, and this is a historic instrument that needs “the real thing.”
