One last Paris excursion before heading to the airport! I was so happy to meet up with Manuela Mondo again for a tour of my favorite cemetery in the whole world, Père Lachaise!
Until I find a better, creepier, more varied and interesting cemetery than Père Lachaise, this one will always be the prize winner in my book. Endless rows of tombs, mausoleums, crypts, and graves. Some very old and some quite new. Some in immaculately maintained condition, and others in interesting states of decay and dereliction.
Of course, Jim Morrison is buried here, and that will be the thing it’s known for from now until the end of time, apparently. It’s really a pity, because the cemetery has thousands and thousands of more interesting burials.
After wandering the rows for an hour, it was time to check the train to the airport. Thankfully, Manuela gave me simple, dumb directions, enough so that a simple, dumb guy like me could find my way.
I really hate to leave Paris, but I’m grateful that I have good friends here who take care of me and won’t let me get lost! Until next time—au revoir!
