Today was a fun day in Fairbanks! We went to the Fountainhead Antique Auto Museum, which we’ve been to before, but now they’ve moved to a bigger place and merged with the local aircraft museum, so they have really cool old airplanes too! I like this museum because they also include lots of original fashion from the era of the cars. They even have one of Joan Crawford’s dresses, and one of Bing Crosby’s tuxedos! This place is great, one of the best car museums I’ve ever been to. And I kept thinking how much my dad would dig seeing the airplanes, am I right, Pop?
Then we drove down the road to Alaska Land, a kind of fair/expo amusement park type place they built in 1967. It’s pretty great! Lots of super-weird old stuff that’s been there for a really long time, and historic buildings that they have moved there. Unfortunately, everything closes on Labor Day, so none of the shops were open. But we did get to ride a giant wooden salmon! We also get the pal around with our friends Barbie and Jamery from the Avery Wolves band (and now they play in a country band together).
Tonight we’re playing a private wedding here in town, should be fun. I gotta say, I really love Alaska!
