Had a fun hang this afternoon with Brian Ray of Paul McCartney’s band (he also played with Etta James for fifteen years before that). I photographed his very cool customized 1960s Mosrite guitar for the Mosrite book. The jury is still out trying to determine who and what and where the modifications were done to this guitar, but it’s a 1965-era Ventures model that was given a wild gold sparkle with red sparkle paint job, gold anodized Vibramute, gold tuners, gold string spacer, Gibson patent number humbucker pickups, and new plexiglass pickguard with four Gibson volume and tone pots. In addition to being one of the wildest looking Mosrites I have encountered, this one also played realllllly nice. Thanks for coming all the way to the DD Ranch today, Brian!
