Afternoon with Geoff Fullerton

Feb 17, 2026

I had a fun morning today in Fullerton! I was honored by Geoff Fullerton (the son of George Fullerton, one of the important early Fender guitar guys, and later Leo Fender’s partner in G&L Guitars) to participate in a video interview for his upcoming documentary and book. There were several other heavy-duty Southern California guitar legends there as well—Fender custom shop guru Fred Stuart, and guitar historian and collector Robb Lawrence. And they had some stuff! K&F lap steels, a March 1950 Fender Broadcaster neck, a 1956 Fender “Mary Kaye” Strat… I brought down the Junior Barnard Epiphone Emperor with the 1947 Leo Fender modifications, the 1948/49 Butterball Paige Bigsby Guitar, and the 1947 Fender Woody Pro amplifier. It was guitar geek heaven! I also did a bit of playing with Geoff and Fred’s new pickups based on George Fullerton’s pickup experiments through the years, they sound really good! Exciting stuff in the works, so stay tuned. Thanks again, Geoff, for having me!
