If you’ve been paying attention to the news, you might have heard that the government has shot down several UNIDENTIFIED FLYING OBJECTS in the last week. We might be under invasion by aliens! Never one to miss an exploitative opportunity, I remembered that I had an unfinished, unreleased novelty song in the vaults with an alien-invasion theme. I scrambled to get the song and this video completed before the alien invasion faded from front-page news. I hereby declare “TAKE ME TO YOUR LEADER” the official alien invasion song of 2023!
This song was recorded about ten years ago with a pretty stellar lineup of musicians: I wrote the song and played guitar, bass, and sang vocals; “Crazy” Joe Tritschler played the guitar solo and the drums; Carl Sonny Leyland played piano; Ron Dziubla played tenor saxophone. At the time, we all though the song was funny and stupid, and I set it aside and saved it for a later date. Well, it’s 2023 and apparently we are being invaded by UFOs, so the time is finally right for the world to hear “TAKE ME TO YOUR LEADER!” (Hat tip to Mark Lee Allen for the record label design!)
