I had to do some business in Glendale today, and saw that Charles Music is going out of business, after many decades. Strange synchronicity on this one: a few days ago I got done fixing up the guitar that Jimmy Wyble played in Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys in the early 1940s. Charles Music is where Jimmy Wyble gave lessons for the latter part of his life. The last time I was in here was in the 1990s, I came in about six times trying to get lessons from him, but he had a sick wife and wasn’t accepting new students. Sad to see this place go—sad to see any music store go out of business. I also see right down the street the classic old Virgil’s Hardware Home Center just went out of business, as well. Sad.
