Had a fun evening in Burbank tonight, I took my daughter Evelyn to go see a sneak preview of the upcoming Lefty Frizzell documentary! This doc, directed by M. Douglas Silverstein, has got just about every living country star imaginable in it being quoted or interviewed (including yours truly) and is going to bring some major recognition to Lefty and his vocal stylings (he and George Jones are the only country singers that make me weep openly). Saw some other movers and shakers there, like Scott Bomar (my ex-publisher boss from BMG publishing) and Michael Graves (the Grammy-winning audio restoration guy, not the Misfits singer), and Gia DeSantis, whom I last saw at Lorrie Collins’s funeral.
I’m not sure if Evelyn enjoyed the country music history and older crowd that much, but there was great food and lots of fancy macarons. Best of luck to M. Douglas Silverstein on getting this thing off the ground!
Oh, and I did I take home some Lefty Frizzell promotional mints and Lefty Frizzell promotional guitar picks? You bet I did!
