Deke Meets the Elvis of La Mancha

Feb 3, 2026

Today was muy loco! Jimmy Garcia and I set out from Madrid early this morning, heading to the Rockin Race Jamboree festival in Torremolinos.

We stopped in the region of La Mancha to visit Marcos Elvis Elvis, La Mancha’s very own Elvis Presley tribute artist. He and his wife Mony welcomed us into their very own “Graceland,” a house bedazzled with more Elvis memorabilia than I’ve ever seen in one place. We finished our visit with a concert by Marcos and a duet on “VIVA—LA MANCHA!” Marcos and Mony gave me a parting gift: a nice Don Quixote display piece! Gracias!

From there, the local police stopped our car, gave me a 100 euro fine for wearing my seat belt the wrong way (!?!?), and gave Jimmy alcohol and drug tests (1 breathalyzer, 1 mouth swab, and 1 blood test) in an attempt to extort money from him too, but he passed all the tests and we were allowed to leave. Hey, they say that La Mancha is like the Midwest of Spain, it really did feel like one of those shakedowns you get in Kansas or Indiana.

We then traveled to see the incredible vintage windmills at Campo de Criptana, which truly were breathtaking. They were so cool, and the view so amazing, I almost forgot about getting socked for 100 euros by the local Barney Fifes.

Click below to watch the video I made (edited in the car after we left La Mancha, while Jimmy drove) of our day’s adventures. Enjoy!
