I had a great day today, meeting up with former Mosrite records star (and one of the legends of the Bakersfield sound), Ronnie Sessions! This was a difficult interview to set up; Ronnie was quite apprehensive about getting together. But thanks to Coop Adamo of the Soda Crackers (one of Ronnie’s cousins), Coop was able to talk Ronnie and his wife Donna into letting me drive out in the country today to visit with them.
I drove about ninety minutes west of Nashville, thinking to myself, this could really go wrong if we don’t hit it off. Luckily, we started talking about music and the old days, and Ronnie opened up. I got lots of great quotes from him about Mosrite guitars and the Mosrite record label, and he also had some really great photos that I scanned!
Ronnie still has his original Mosrite acoustic guitar, and I was happy to get some photos of him holding it. This was a big one on my bucket list, and I didn’t think it was going to happen. I’m so happy that it all worked out! Big thanks once again to Coop Adamo for making this a reality! And if you have a minute, go play some of Ronnie’s old records on YouTube— he was a really great singer and made some great records!
