Excited for the gigs next week with Bob Wills’s Texas Playboys! Here are a couple of videos for the guitar players. I have been working on the Eldon Shamblin guitar part on “Faded Love,” and trust me: it’s way harder than learning “Eruption.” I appreciate any feedback and corrections. One of the other really interesting things about Western swing is that on a standard song like “Faded Love,” there will be the original Bob Wills version, there will be the re-recorded Bob Wills version, later versions by groups like Asleep at the Wheel, the standard live versions played by bands in Texas today, etc., and they’re all slightly different. Kind of maddening, but I’m working on this to try to do the best job. I possibly can next week in Oklahoma in Texas!
